I had a great experience shopping for tires at Costco about 7 years ago. I had never shopped for tires didn’t know the first thing about what to do; I just knew I needed two new tires because I was told they were worn. I walked to the Costco Tire Shop and said I need two new tires, the price was right so I purchased I just needed two so I asked to make sure they were same size as the other two so they would not be uneven, something I was told. The salesman said yes, these two tires will fit just right so I figured he knows more than me, I agree and left my car there and to come back when I received a phone call. About 10 minutes after I arrived home, I received a phone call and the salesperson on the other end told me he had made a mistake by telling me the tires where here and actually did not have in stock, so what they did for me is give me two free tires.
The Zappos culture is built around 10 “Core Values,” ranging from “Build open and honest relationships with communication” to “Create fun and a little weirdness.” Value number one: “Deliver WOW through service!” This is what I call great customer service and even though I don’t buy tires all the time, the next time I am in need of a new set of tires I know where to go.
